As we get older, persons may start to question if memory lapses are early signs of a dementia. In this session, the normal age related cognitive changes will be differentiated from the signs of dementia. Although several causes of dementia will be discussed, the focus will be on Alzheimer’s disease. Risk factors, strategies used for physician diagnosis and current treatments used to ease symptoms will be described. We will conclude with a description of what we can do to improve and maintain brain health.
